  • A Wretched Performance By Hilton

This is a letter i just wrote to Hilton. Once, they were a high end hotel, where you could be certain of fine accommodations, and excellent service. Now? Well…I guess they don’t much care.

My husband has our Hilton Honors number…but after my experience at a convention in the Parsippany Hilton, we are not likely to make Hilton a travel choice in the future.

I was not under the impression that Hilton has issues with the handicapped. I was under the impression that  reasonable accommodation included BATHROOMS I could actually have access to.  You  desk clerk did not share that impression.  I was told that there was nothing they could do since I was not a guest.. I will be MOST certain to tell the bridal couples I know that Hilton is a poor choice for weddings. I shall share with my traveling business friends that Hilton doesnt think women need rest rooms…particularly for meetings that might have a large female attendance.

Sadly, the desk clerk did not act alone. She DID ask a manager what to do…she did try.  She was ordered to send me off.  So Hilton must be doing GREAT…since they can afford to act in such a high handed fashion.

No…I was not staying there TODAY.  But I will ask my husband to remove Hilton (where he stayed for 14 days of travel last year) off his list of acceptable hotels. I will write to Lockheed Martin Corporate, as well as any Governmental agency I can think of, and ask them to remove Hilton from their lists…because most companies do have handicapped employees, and I would hate for someone to be humiliated, as I was today.

I will be happy to discuss this with someone of reasonable rank. It will also be the topic of my next blog within 48 hours, as well as an email I will ask everyone I know to pass on. Now…are we clear that this was an awful mistake?

And before anyone says the convention was at fault, it was also YOUR staff that turned off the AC in a waiting area FULL of people, leaving them to suffer in the heat.  Either Hilton is a worthy destination, available to the handicapped or it is not.  Which is it?

The Hilton Employees were in a rush to shut down after the Convention started winding down.  Such a rush, that they left over a hundred people standing nearly an hour in a waiting area without AC.  I hope no one took ill, as a result of the heat, but many people were sweating, and uncomfortable. The Creation Entertainment event was far from inexpensive. At 50 dollars a person for one day, it was pricey. One would hope that for THAT much, you would have access to adequate restrooms, and possibly not have to risk heat stroke.

    Guess I was wrong.
