Trolls: A Cautionary Tale
I’ve always detested net trolls, who hide behind the anonymity of the Web, and bully or simply destroy the work of others, from a desire to be juvenile, or even a psychotic need to bring havoc. But the Net is also a teflon playground for that sort of creep…or WAS.
Behold…a troll gets his comeuppance.
And has the solid gall to set up a PayPal account…so people can help support him now that he’s been nailed.
Poor baby…sucks to be victimized, huh?

I’m sorry for the wife, actually. But the guy deserves no sympathy.
Be afraid, trolls. Be very afraid.
It sucks to be victimized all around. I hope his family doesnt suffer much.
i hate to see anyone lose their job and i too feel sorry for his wife but i don’t pity this guy. what he’s done online is disgusting. trolls are childish. by their behavior i assume they’re….well i don’t even want to say kids because most kids are more mature. then you find out some trolls are middle aged men.
i wonder if his wife was aware of his online activity.
@TheSutraDude - Well, they say they sat in bed together with laptops…I can’t imagine she NEVER noticed…but who’s to say?
Good, I have always hated the way people abuse the anonymity that the web can offer and I am glad that there are real consequences now.
Trolls are terrible! I have had to deal with one this year. I am friends with some people and this troll has not left my group of friends alone!
@BoulderChristina - I agree. people have operated with impunity for too long
and yeah, some are here on xanga
great to see you, lisa
you definitely are one of my favoritest xangans. you make sense, and always with eloquence.
and you’re a fucking grown-up
how refreshing
@bonmots - MWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAH!
Missed you too hon…Loving the new place…went to Cambridge on Monday night for a Poetry Slam…this feels so much like home!
@Bridget1022 - Unfortunately, some trolls run in packs…or simply get support from the dull, the stupid, or easily bored.
@BoulderChristina - I’m with ya, Lady!
I have no problems with this result at all. It is one thing to lose your job because there’s a picture of you in a bikini online and quite another to lose your job because you disrespect other people’s privacy by encouraging such things as Creepshots or Jailbait or other such stuff that is a blatant disrespect for others.
@TiredSoVeryTired - Right on! I saw another piece about a dipstick who decided to “tweet” about a famous client…and was shocked when she saw it…and demanded that he be fired.
I try to remind people that just because you can instantly express yourself doesn’t mean YOU SHOULD. Free speech doesn’t cover slander, libel, or harassment,
(And it’s good to see you again!)
@galadrial - this makes me happy that you’ve found home. oh poetry slam–it seems all so 60′s bohemian
the only poetry slam I’ve been to has been my kid’s middle school
such raw er talent?
@bonmots - Woman, they would ADORE you…and it feels so good to be with talent again!
Finally one of the bottom crawlers got a slap in the face instead of on the wrist. Wonder what he though would happen when he got cuaght and maybe he thought he would never get caught.
@Grannys_Place - I’m pretty sure he felt safe. Trolls are usually narcissistic….no one matters but them. Maybe we can hope for a little more self restraint, now that it has a price tag.
