Brazilians For Health…
A while back, I blogged about the current fashion for Brazilians…those godawful hair removal techniques that leave grown women looking like pre-teen girls. I thought it was gross on a lot of levels…and there were opinions flying about it, most based on preferences, fashion, and trends.

This showed up today.
Yes, the sample size is tiny…but guess what?
It used to be required (not optional) for women in labor to be shaved for delivery. Then they noticed that women developed STI’s, yeast infections, and a host of other less desirable nastiness after…and it stopped. They simply wash and swab with betadine now—and glory be…infections after birth went WAY down.
Now…can I have a show of hands for those who think bacteria differentiate between cosmetic shaving and medical?

I just don’t think it’s worth it…but hey…what do I know?

A lot of men go for the clean shaven look but I sort of allow less shaving and neglect my looks. Then again a lot of men get razor bumps and have nicks and cuts from shaving. You will be surprised to know that men understand the hazards of having too many close shaves.
The second article mentions cellulitus—which is serious.
I’ve had two bouts of MRSA following surgery—so I would not risk a Staph infection for fashion…
Hmm. I never knew shaving could be hazardous to your health. Maybe I should tell my wife that, the next time she tells me I forgot to shave?
@twoberry - Well Twoberry. from what I can tell, the cellulitus is a lot more fond of…well…wonders down under, so to speak? So unless you’re barbering the male bits, I’m not sure you need to worry!
Of course, there’s always an upside. A new addition to the endangered species list.
